In today’s Newsletter:
Episode #1 - “Build in Public” legend Karthik Puvvada
Dear friends,
I’m thrilled to announce my new podcast today!
It started earlier in the year as a semi-private affair launched here on my newsletter.
I wanted to get to know creatives better and hoped to offer practical advice for anyone wrestling with the digital economy.
The feedback I’ve had from you here and on Instagram has been immensely rewarding. It’s spurned me on in two ways.
To take the leap and launch the podcast publicly. It’s been a fascinating journey to learn all the ins and outs of how to set it up professionally. If anyone would like some pointers, let me know!
To settle my focus on the intersection between entrepreneurship and creativity. As such, I’m speaking with both business leaders and artists and hope to build a bridge between the two worlds.
Thank you all so much for the support; it’s down to you that I’ve decided to take this public. What a beautiful thing: that those who encourage you become your guides - often without even knowing it!
9. TAKEAWAYS ON BEGINNING NEW THINGS
If you’re on the edge of starting something new - why not just leap?
Don’t let things not yet begun become albatrosses - we have one life, and it’s never too late to start!
It’s so dam easy to want to be perfect or to think we’re not good enough. Guys, it’s in the doing itself that we grow.
We all struggle with the limiting belief of “what if it’s a failure”. Ask yourself: are you framing this from the outside or the inside? I’ve learnt so much from the people I’ve podcasted with already. Yes, I hope people will hear it! But it’s through the joy of connecting, living and loving that we rewrite our spirit. For me, it’s a success even before the launch.
Keep it light!
You have no idea what your potential might mean so someone out there - stop worrying about the whole world, and give to one person that really needs it.
The joy of jumping off cliffs is that you find out if angels exist.
With something new, remember that there’s only one way it manifests: having the humility to do the very next smallest thing.
Growth compounds.
Actionable Step: Write it down. Now!
MY FIRST GUEST
My guest for the launch episode is Karthik Puvvada - a man who has become both a great friend and mentor.
As I sought to reboot this year, KP has been a fountain of encouragement and new ideas.
Instead of niching down, his advice: why not become more you, rather than less - and why don’t you just have as much fun as possible?
His guidance has had two pragmatic influences on me:
The podcast will now feature both founders and artists and will seek to build a bridge between the worlds of entrepreneurship and creativity. My sense is that at this intersection is a wealth of untapped knowledge.
Instead of deciding I have to limit myself, he’s encouraged me to expand outward. It’s led to seeing my path in the spirit of creative entrepreneurship; a most revitalising mental shift.
If you’re on the threshold of starting something new I really hope you listen to the episode with KP!
All subscriptions and shares of the podcast are greatly appreciated guys! For now, enjoy and have a beautiful weekend ahead x Jim
